Whether you are going for a full glam or natural make up look, mascara is an essential step. Long, full lashes really do complete the look! If you are not a fan of false lashes, or simply don’t have the time, then you need a hard working mascara.
The perfect mascara needs to give us a few things;
- Volume
- Length
- Colour
- Separation of lashes
- No clumps
It can be tricky to find a mascara that does all five. With my selections below, I feel like I have ticked most of these boxes. These mascaras would be great to have on hand during a hen party or wedding. When you are too busy cheer-sing and dancing, the last thing you want to worry about is if your mascara is still in tact. Therefore I selected my holy grail mascaras that should make you look flawless while you enjoy yourself!
Two Faced Better Than Sex
You cannot beat Better Than Sex mascara really ladies! After years of searching for the perfect mascara, this one was a miracle. It really does coat the lashes well while separating them nicely. When a lot of mascaras clump on your lashes, this doesn’t. Perfect! It apparently also is collagen fueled which makes the lashes even fuller and longer. It is recommended to coat the lashes three times for an intense and more glamorous look. This would be perfect for the hen party with a smokey eye.

Two Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof
If you are prone to a few happy tears, especially at the hen party or wedding, then you may want to opt for a waterproof mascara. The Better Than Sex mascara really is a winner overall and the waterproof version is just the icing on the cake. Cry from high emotions or just from laughter and this guy has you covered! Two coats of this mascara and my lashes look perfect. Plus, it doesn’t budge for the night! Ideal for a long weekend of celebrations.

Benefit They’re Real
Benefit They’re Real mascara would be another favourite of mine. Although this doesn’t give as much volume as Better Than Sex, it does lengthen my lashes without making them clumpy. This mascara also dries quickly so it doesn’t smudge or transfer easily. There is nothing worse than traces of your mascara getting on your eye lid or just under your eyes, making us look like we have (even more) bags. No thanks!

Charlotte Tilbury The Lashformation Day To Night Duo
I was very intrigued by this Charlotte Tilbury lash duo when I saw it on the website. I simply had to try it out. This duo is supposed to help take your lashes from a natural day look to a voluminous night look. ‘Full Fat Lashes’ is the day time mascara and ‘Legendary Lashes’ is for the night time. For me, the ‘Full Fat Lashes’ mascara adds a bit more volume while keeping the look pretty natural. I actually like to use these mascaras at the same time to add a bit more drama to my look. Together these mascaras add loads of volume and make my lashes really dark which is perfect for a smokey eye look.

MAC False Lashes Maximizer
Before you go and pick up any of these mascaras, I would highly recommend purchasing this MAC lash primer. I had never used a primer for my lashes before until I recently got my make up done by Claire from CrazyDolls.ie. Claire applied this primer before using mascara and I was amazed! My lashes were longer and fuller and it looked like I was wearing falsies. Ideal! This product is designed to “condition, prime and enhance”. It goes on white but dries clear. It also didn’t budge and looked the same from the start of the day to the finish. This is definitely a must have ladies.
