Ladies, we all love a bit of shimmer right?! Especially when it comes to fun nights like hen parties or to add a bit of glam to your wedding look. A product like a shimmery dry body oil is such a fantastic and fun way to achieve the ultimate glow! This week I decided to take a look at the full Cocoa Brown body oil collection. Keep reading.
Who are Cocoa Brown?
Cocoa Brown is Irelands best selling tanning range run by Marissa Carter. She has been successfully running this company since about 2012 and has gone from strength to strength. Celebrities like Camilla Mackintosh and Kylie Jenner have been seen sporting this tan. If it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for us right? This range includes tans, scrubs, moisturizers, tanning mitts, brushes and more. One of the best selling products, and my personal favourites, are the Golden Goddess body oils.
What is the Cocoa Brown Body Oil?
These are dry body oils with a shimmer and slight colour. So far Marissa has released Golden Goddess (the original with shimmer and very slight golden colour), Rose Gold Goddess (the same except with a slight rose gold colour) and Ice Goddess (the same shimmer but with a slightly white colour). Each can be used in different ways, which I will talk more about below.
How do I use it?
I like to use these body oils in a few different ways.
- On the body to enhance colour of tan
- As a highlight
- To just give my skin a nice glow
These oils always look fantastic on a tan, real or fake. You can be as generous or subtle with this product as you like but I like to apply it generously to my legs and lightly to areas like my shoulders and collar bone. This makes the tan pop and look like I just stepped off the beach in Marbella! I wish!
These oils work as an amazing highlight, in particular Ice Goddess. I usually apply this to my collar bone, just under the brow bone, cheek bones and wherever else I fancy highlighting on the day/night. I am partial to practically bathing myself in this oil too ladies….it’s just that nice!
Golden Goddess is a nice oil to use even without tan. It gives a pretty glow and shimmer to my skin that looks really nice on the arms and legs. I tend to just use Golden Goddess for this as the the other oils have more a colour in them.
The Rose Gold Goddess has more warmer pigment to it so, on me, it looks better applied over tan. It enhances the colour of my tan and the shimmer gives a nice healthy glow to my skin. Perfect for a night on the tiles.
Application
I have applied these oils just using my hand several times and it worked really well. However, I do feel like it goes on better using a tanning mitt or fluffy brush. I like to use a brush when applying to smaller areas like my collar bone and then a mitt when applying to my arms and legs. Both give a nice even and flawless finish. When applying to areas like my cheekbone or brow bone, I simply use the same make up brushes I would normally use. I also find that starting with a small amount is the best thing. You can always build on the application if needs be. This is especially important when applying over foundation. I very gently pat a small amount onto my cheekbones so as not to remove any of my make up.
My thoughts
I really like the Cocoa Brown oil collection for a few reasons. The fact that they are multi-use is a big plus for me! Especially when you are off on your hen party with a million bags to carry. Lesson your load and bring the one body oil to enhance your tan and as a highlighter. Perfect! The smell isn’t great but it is very subtle so a bit of perfume and it disappears. I would highly recommend these oils as they are a really good price and will last you months.
