Healthy Hen Party Snack

Looking for a Healthy Hen Party Snack to take on the road trip? We found this amazing energy balls recipe from Roz Purcell – Natural Born Feeder. It’s a good one!

We know that the hen party is all about indulgence. Lots of food and lots of drink to be consumed ladies! However, you may need a healthy snack or two to keep you going. Maybe the bride-to-be is very health conscious, maybe you want to save the indulgence until dinner (and the chipper at 3am) or maybe you are just looking for a snack to nibble on in the car. Well, we have found a delicious treat that is sure to tick all the boxes.

Even if you are not heading on a hen party soon these energy balls are a healthy treat to tuck into any day. This is also a great snack to keep on hand to prevent nibbling on bad foods like crisps and sweets. Now, we are all guilty of this! This is even more important on the lead up to events like weddings or holidays.

We recently found this great recipe on Roz Purcells website, Natural Born Feeder. Roz is all about eating right and staying active. Her golden rule when it comes to food is “use whole foods to live a whole life”. She stays away from processed food that can be so bad for us, inside and out. Roz has taken her love for healthy food and put it in her cookbook Natural Born Feeder. Here she shares some amazing vegan, vegetarian, paleo recipes and so on. No matter what your preference is, you will find something delicious to whip up in the kitchen.

Natural Born Feeder Quick Energy Balls

Serves: 12

Cooking Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  1. 140g Flahavans Oats
  2. 4 tbsp maple syrup
  3. 5 tbsp almond butter
  4. 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  5. Sea Salt (optional)
  6. Melted Dark Chocolate

How To Make:

  1. Pop the oats into a blender and blend until smooth
  2. Put the oats, maple syrup, almond butter, vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt into a large bowl and mix until smooth
  3. Take the mixture 1 tbsp size at a time and roll into balls
  4. Drizzle the melted dark chocolate over the top
  5. Pop in the fridge overnight if you wish
  6. Tuck in!

These fabulous energy balls are a great idea for meal preparation. They should last up to a week when kept refrigerated. We love to make these on a Sunday evening, keep them in a lunchbox in the fridge and bring some to work each day. Disclaimer: these taste amazing! So be warned, you may want to eat them all at once!

So if you are heading off in the car, train or a plane for the hen party, pop these energy balls in your bag. Hand them around when the girls start to feel peckish to keep them full and happy! This is also a great snack to keep the energy up the day after the party. All that dancing means a lot of sleepy hens!
