Attending or planning a hen party this year? Before you begin, check out our Hen Party Checklist and get ready for a fab weekend!
6 Months Before:
Approximately six months before the hen party sit down with the bride-to-be and ask her what she wants to do. Would she like a traditional party or would she like to keep it classy? This way you can get an idea of what she would prefer to do during the festivities. You can throw in a few surprises of course, but knowing what she doesn’t want will ensure she has a great time. Find out who she would like to be invited to the party and who she wouldn’t. The last thing you want is to invite someone that she doesn’t get along with!
Around this time ask her when she would like the party to be held. As she may be busy with other prior engagements, work or planning the wedding, it is best to celebrate when she is free. Once a date is decided send out the invitations to the hens. The earlier you send these out the better. Guests have plenty of time to book time of work, book that babysitter and most important, plan what to wear.
3 Months Before:
Book all venues at least three months before the party. These venues may include the accommodation, a restaurant, activities and a reserved area in a bar or nightclub. This is a good time to send out the pricing to the hens and start collecting the money. Organise transportation to the venue depending on where it is located. A great idea would be for guests to carpool together. If this is not an option, hire a bus. This is also a great way to start the festivities early!
2 Months Before:
Finalise any bookings two months before the hen party. This way you can ensure that everything will run smoothly on the night. Order the hen party accessories and decor items around this time also. From sashes to blow up dolls, these can add that extra touch of fun to the festivities. You can find some fab accessories and decoration in our online store here.
This time is perfect to order any personalised items also. This could include a dressing gown or pajamas for the bide-to-be with her name and the date of the party on the back. As these items may take a while to make and deliver, ensure that you organise them in plenty of time. Personalised items are a fab idea as the bride can cherish them forever and look back on what a great time she had!
2 Weeks Before:
Collect any final payments from the group at least two weeks before the party. Check the RSVP’s and contact anyone who has not replied.
Once you have the final plan in place, send the itinerary to the girls. If you are keeping some activities a surprise then simply let them know where they are going, staying and how to get there.
1 Week Before:
Start shopping for some hen party goodies like alcohol, sweets and other food that will stay fresh. Depending on where you are hosting the hen party you may need to pick up some plastic cups, cutlery and plates. Purchase twice the amount to make sure that no one goes without. We all know how things break and go missing after a few glasses of bubbly 😉
This is a good time to begin to make a list of items that you have to bring to the party. This way you will make sure that you don’t forget anything when you start to pack.
The Day Before:
Remind the hens of anything they need to bring the party and resend directions so no one gets lost. Gather all the items that you need to bring and pack them safety so nothing breaks on the journey. Last but not least, get plenty of sleep. You will need it!
The Day Of The Party:
Arrive nice and early to the venue with the hens. This way you can check in, have a drink and relax. While some of the girls are having a drink grab two or three of the hens to help you set up the party. This is a great opportunity to decorate the room and lay out some drinks and food.
When it is time to celebrate, relax and enjoy yourself. While you party, keep an eye on the bride and make sure she is having a good time. Keep her glass full and a smile on her face!
